720-900-HAWK (4295)

the American Kestrel

6 Years Old
Falco sparverius
Trapped by falconer with previous blindness in right eye
Came to Nature's Educators from a falconer
Ajax was the Director's falconry (hunting) partner for 2 seasons. He was taken in at a young age and discovered to only have sight in one eye. He would not have survived his first winter as he would have to be able to catch mice and sparrows. Having poor vision would have made this extremely difficult to impossible. CO Parks and Wildlife allowed our Director to keep Ajax as an educational bird so that he would stay safe and healthy.
